Description
Deliciously soft and sweet dumplings filled with your favorite jam, perfect for a delightful dessert or snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup jam (your choice of flavor)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut out circles using a cookie cutter or glass, about 3 inches in diameter.
- Place about a teaspoon of jam in the center of each circle.
- Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
- Bring a large pot of water to a gentle boil. Carefully drop the dumplings into the water, a few at a time.
- Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted spoon.
- Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- Feel free to experiment with different jam flavors for variety.
- Make sure to seal the dumplings well to prevent filling from leaking during cooking.
