Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries with 1/4 cup of sugar. Mash the strawberries slightly with a fork and let them sit for about 30 minutes to release their juices.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Add the mashed strawberries and their juices to the cream mixture and stir to combine.
  4. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  5. Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
  6. Scoop and serve the strawberry ice cream, garnished with fresh strawberries if desired.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, use an immersion blender to puree the strawberries before combining with the cream.
