Description
A classic Southern breakfast dish featuring flaky biscuits smothered in rich, creamy sausage gravy.

- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon Baking powder
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 cup Unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup Milk
- 1 pound Breakfast sausage
- 1/4 cup All-purpose flour
- 2 cups Milk
- 1 teaspoon Black pepper

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the cold, cubed butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the milk until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Pat it into a rectangle about 1 inch thick.
- Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter and place them on a baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with a little milk.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the biscuits are baking, cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through.
- Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to coat. Cook for an additional minute.
- Slowly add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Season with black pepper and salt to taste.
- Serve the biscuits warm, smothered in the sausage gravy.
Notes
- For extra flaky biscuits, avoid overworking the dough.
- You can substitute buttermilk for the milk for a tangier flavor.
- Feel free to add additional seasonings to the gravy such as garlic powder or cayenne pepper for extra flavor.
