- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season the chuck roast with salt and black pepper.
- Sear the roast in the skillet until browned on all sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Transfer the roast to the slow cooker.
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, carrots, and potatoes around the roast.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and bay leaves.
- Pour the broth mixture over the roast and vegetables in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the meat is fork-tender.
- Remove the roast and vegetables from the slow cooker and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Serve warm, spooning the broth over the roast and vegetables.
