  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

A classic Louisiana sandwich featuring crispy fried shrimp, lettuce, tomatoes, and a zesty remoulade sauce, served on a fresh hoagie roll.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Remoulade sauce

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, soak the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove shrimp from buttermilk, letting excess drip off, and dredge in the flour mixture until well coated.
  5. Fry shrimp in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
  6. To assemble, split the hoagie rolls and layer with lettuce, tomato, and fried shrimp.
  7. Drizzle remoulade sauce on top, close the sandwich, and serve.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add Old Bay seasoning to the flour mixture.
  • Feel free to customize toppings with pickles, onions, or additional sauces.
