Description
A classic Louisiana sandwich featuring crispy fried shrimp, lettuce, tomatoes, and a zesty remoulade sauce, served on a fresh hoagie roll.

- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Remoulade sauce
Instructions
- In a bowl, soak the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat.
- Remove shrimp from buttermilk, letting excess drip off, and dredge in the flour mixture until well coated.
- Fry shrimp in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
- To assemble, split the hoagie rolls and layer with lettuce, tomato, and fried shrimp.
- Drizzle remoulade sauce on top, close the sandwich, and serve.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add Old Bay seasoning to the flour mixture.
- Feel free to customize toppings with pickles, onions, or additional sauces.
