Description
This classic peach pie features a flaky crust filled with juicy, sweet peaches, creating a delightful dessert perfect for summer gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups sliced fresh peaches, peeled
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 package of pie crusts (2 crusts), store-bought or homemade
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced peaches, sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss until the peaches are well coated.
- Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan. Pour the peach mixture into the crust, and dot with butter.
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the top of the peach filling. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape. Crimp the edges to seal.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for an additional 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
- For a deeper flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the filling.
- If using frozen peaches, thaw and drain excess liquid before mixing with sugar and spices.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
