- 2 large onions, sliced into 1/4-inch rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, then into the buttermilk, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- Carefully place the coated onion rings in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
- Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-4 minutes per side.
- Remove onion rings from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For extra crunch, double dip the onion rings in buttermilk and breadcrumbs.
- Use sweet onions like Vidalia for a milder flavor.
