Description
A perfectly cooked New York Strip Steak, seasoned and seared to perfection for a juicy and flavorful meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 New York Strip Steaks, about 1-inch thick
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
- Butter, for basting (optional)
Instructions
- Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and then rub both sides with olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
- If using a skillet, add a little more oil to the pan and allow it to heat until shimmering.
- Place the steaks on the grill or in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them.
- Flip the steaks and add minced garlic and herbs to the pan if desired. Cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting time for desired doneness.
- If using butter, add it to the pan and baste the steaks for added flavor.
- Remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For best results, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.
- Medium-rare is typically around 130°F to 135°F.
- Allowing the steaks to rest helps redistribute the juices.
