  • Author: ushinzomr
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Description

A perfectly cooked New York Strip Steak, seasoned and seared to perfection for a juicy and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 New York Strip Steaks, about 1-inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
  • Butter, for basting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.
  2. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and then rub both sides with olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
  4. If using a skillet, add a little more oil to the pan and allow it to heat until shimmering.
  5. Place the steaks on the grill or in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them.
  6. Flip the steaks and add minced garlic and herbs to the pan if desired. Cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting time for desired doneness.
  7. If using butter, add it to the pan and baste the steaks for added flavor.
  8. Remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For best results, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.
  • Medium-rare is typically around 130°F to 135°F.
  • Allowing the steaks to rest helps redistribute the juices.
