Description

Creamy and buttery mashed potatoes that are the perfect side dish for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream, warmed
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Place the peeled and cut potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium and cook until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Allow to steam for a minute to release excess moisture.
  4. Add the butter to the potatoes and begin mashing with a potato masher or hand mixer until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the warmed milk or cream, mixing until desired consistency is reached.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add garlic or herbs like chives or parsley.
  • Make sure to use room temperature butter for easier mixing.
  • You can also use Yukon gold potatoes for a creamier texture.
