Description
A traditional Kashubian dish that combines the flavors of pickled herring with fresh apples for a refreshing twist.
Ingredients

- 4 pickled herring fillets, rinsed and drained
- 1 medium apple, cored and diced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh dill for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the diced apple, chopped onion, apple cider vinegar, vegetable oil, and sugar. Mix well.
- Add the rinsed herring fillets to the bowl and gently toss to coat them in the apple mixture.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Let the mixture sit for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve chilled, garnished with fresh dill.
Notes
- This dish is best served cold and can be made a few hours in advance.
- Feel free to add other ingredients such as chopped celery or bell peppers for added crunch.
