Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix warmed milk, egg, and melted butter until combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut out circles using a doughnut cutter or a round cookie cutter.
- Place a teaspoon of jam in the center of half of the circles, then top with the remaining circles and seal the edges.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the doughnuts in batches until golden brown on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- You can use any flavor of jam you prefer, such as raspberry, strawberry, or apricot.
- Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature to achieve a golden and crispy exterior.
