A smooth and creamy classic hummus made with simple ingredients. Perfect as a dip or spread.
Ingredients

- 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt, to taste
- Water, as needed for consistency
- Paprika, for garnish (optional)
- Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, and salt.
- Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
- If the hummus is too thick, add water a tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with paprika and parsley if desired.
- Serve with pita bread, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.
- Hummus can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
