Description
Crispy, golden homemade potato chips that are easy to make and deliciously addictive.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large russet potatoes
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Salt to taste
- Optional seasonings (e.g., garlic powder, paprika, onion powder)
Instructions
- Wash and peel the potatoes. Using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife, slice the potatoes thinly (about 1/8 inch thick).
- Soak the potato slices in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Drain the potato slices and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
- In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Add a small batch of potato slices to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot.
- Fry the potato slices until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- While still hot, sprinkle with salt and any desired seasonings.
- Repeat the frying process with the remaining potato slices.
- Allow the chips to cool completely before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
- Ensure the oil is at the right temperature for crispy chips.
- Store any leftover chips in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
- Experiment with different seasonings to create your perfect chip flavor.
