Description
A simple and delicious recipe for making homemade fruit jelly using fresh fruit juice, perfect for spreading on toast or using in desserts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh fruit juice
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 pouch (1.75 oz) pectin
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Prepare your jars and lids by sterilizing them in boiling water for 10 minutes.
- In a large pot, combine the fruit juice and water. Stir in the pectin and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, add the granulated sugar all at once. Stir constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Bring the mixture back to a full rolling boil and boil for 1 minute.
- Remove the pot from heat and skim off any foam that forms on top.
- Stir in the lemon juice and mix well.
- Pour the hot jelly into the prepared jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace. Wipe the rims of the jars with a clean cloth.
- Seal the jars with the sterilized lids and process them in a boiling water bath for 5-10 minutes.
- Remove the jars and allow them to cool completely on a clean towel or cooling rack.
Notes
- You can use any fruit juice you like, such as grape, apple, or berry juice.
- Make sure to check if your fruit juice contains preservatives; it’s best to use fresh juice.
- The jelly will thicken as it cools, so don’t worry if it seems runny at first.
