  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese, grated for serving
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the drained diced tomatoes, dried basil, and dried oregano to the skillet. Stir to combine and cook for 5-7 minutes until heated through.
  4. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves if desired.
