Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces of pasta (spaghetti, penne, or your choice)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Parmesan cheese, grated for serving
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.

- Add the drained diced tomatoes, dried basil, and dried oregano to the skillet. Stir to combine and cook for 5-7 minutes until heated through.
- Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves if desired.
Notes
- Feel free to add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for extra nutrition.
- You can also add cooked protein like chicken or shrimp for a heartier meal.
