Ingredients

  • 34 pounds pork shoulder or pork butt
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Buns or rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Place the sliced onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the crockpot.
  2. Rub the pork shoulder with smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Place it on top of the onions and garlic in the crockpot.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, chicken broth, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar.
  4. Pour the BBQ sauce mixture over the pork in the crockpot.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours, until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  6. Once cooked, shred the pork in the crockpot using two forks, mixing it with the sauce.
  7. Serve the BBQ pork on buns or over rice.

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the BBQ sauce to your preference for sweetness or heat.
  • For added flavor, you can marinate the pork in the BBQ sauce overnight before cooking.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
