Description
Juicy, flavorful double smash burgers cooked to perfection with a crispy exterior and a tender inside, topped with your favorite condiments.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
- Lettuce, tomato, and onion for toppings
- Ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise for condiments
- Butter for toasting buns
Instructions
- Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into 8 equal balls (about 2 ounces each).
- Once the skillet is hot, place 2 balls of beef on the skillet and immediately smash them down with a spatula until they are about 1/4 inch thick.
- Season the patties with salt and pepper.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy and the juices are seeping out of the top.
- Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of cheese on each patty. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- While the burgers are cooking, butter the insides of the burger buns and toast them in a separate pan until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing two patties on each toasted bun, adding lettuce, tomato, onion, and your choice of condiments.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add garlic powder or onion powder to the ground beef before cooking.
- Make sure your skillet is very hot to achieve the perfect sear on the burgers.
- Feel free to customize your toppings based on your preference.
