Juicy, flavorful double smash burgers cooked to perfection with a crispy exterior and a tender inside, topped with your favorite condiments.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
  • Lettuce, tomato, and onion for toppings
  • Ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise for condiments
  • Butter for toasting buns

Instructions

  1. Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into 8 equal balls (about 2 ounces each).
  3. Once the skillet is hot, place 2 balls of beef on the skillet and immediately smash them down with a spatula until they are about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Season the patties with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy and the juices are seeping out of the top.
  6. Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of cheese on each patty. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  7. While the burgers are cooking, butter the insides of the burger buns and toast them in a separate pan until golden brown.
  8. Assemble the burgers by placing two patties on each toasted bun, adding lettuce, tomato, onion, and your choice of condiments.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add garlic powder or onion powder to the ground beef before cooking.
  • Make sure your skillet is very hot to achieve the perfect sear on the burgers.
  • Feel free to customize your toppings based on your preference.
