Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together the brown sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
- Gradually whisk in the whole milk until smooth.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble.
- Remove from heat and stir in the butter, vanilla extract, and butterscotch flavoring if using.
- Pour the pudding into serving dishes and cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface to prevent a skin from forming.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
