Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups water
- Ice cubes
- Fresh blueberries and lemon slices for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the blueberries, sugar, and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the blueberries have burst and the mixture is syrupy, about 10 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool slightly. Strain the blueberry mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher to remove the solids.
- Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and the remaining 3 cups of water to the pitcher. Stir well to combine.
- Taste and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar if desired.
- Serve in glasses filled with ice cubes and garnish with fresh blueberries and lemon slices.
Notes
- For a sparkling version, substitute some or all of the water with sparkling water.
- You can also add mint leaves for an extra refreshing flavor.
- Store any leftover lemonade in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
