- 1 large sweet onion
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Peel the onion and cut off the top, leaving the root intact. Make 12-16 cuts downwards into the onion, about 3/4 of the way through.
- In a bowl, mix together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs.
- Dip the onion in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s coated well. Shake off excess flour.
- Dip the onion into the beaten eggs, then coat it with breadcrumbs.
- Spray the onion with cooking spray to help it crisp up.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the onion in the air fryer basket and cook for 15-20 minutes until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add your favorite spices to the breadcrumb mixture.
- Make sure to separate the petals of the onion for an even cook.
