- 1 pre-made pie crust
- 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, flour, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
- Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a tart pan. Trim any excess crust hanging over the edges.
- Arrange the apple mixture evenly over the crust. Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
- Fold the edges of the pie crust over the apples, leaving the center exposed.
- Brush the crust with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
Notes
- For added flavor, you can sprinkle some nutmeg or allspice along with the cinnamon.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delicious dessert.
