- 1 pound breakfast sausage, crumbled
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 4 cups cubed day-old bread
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
- 1 cup diced onion (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the crumbled sausage over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess grease.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Add the cubed bread, cooked sausage, bell peppers, onion, and half of the shredded cheese to the egg mixture. Stir until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is set in the center and golden brown on top.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Feel free to customize the casserole with your favorite vegetables or meats.
- This dish can be prepared the night before and refrigerated. Just add an extra 10-15 minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
