  • 8 large eggs

  • 4 cups cubed day-old bread
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
  • 1 cup diced onion (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the crumbled sausage over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess grease.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Add the cubed bread, cooked sausage, bell peppers, onion, and half of the shredded cheese to the egg mixture. Stir until well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread it out evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is set in the center and golden brown on top.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the casserole with your favorite vegetables or meats.
  • This dish can be prepared the night before and refrigerated. Just add an extra 10-15 minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
