Delight Mom with this beautiful 3-layer bento cake, perfect for celebrating Mother’s Day! This cake is not only visually stunning but also delicious, making it a fantastic treat for the special day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttercream frosting (for decoration)
  • Fresh flowers or edible decorations (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 6-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, level the tops of the cakes with a serrated knife if necessary.
  9. Stack the layers with buttercream frosting in between each layer and cover the top and sides with more frosting.
  10. Decorate with fresh flowers or edible decorations to create a beautiful bento-style presentation.
  11. Slice and serve to delight Mom on her special day!

Notes

  • For a chocolate version, substitute 1/2 cup of flour with cocoa powder.
  • Feel free to customize the frosting with different flavors or colors to match your theme.
  • Make sure to use food-safe flowers if using fresh decorations.
