  • 1 tablespoon mustard seeds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Water, enough to cover the meat

Instructions

  1. Place corned beef in a large pot and cover with water.
  2. Add peppercorns, mustard seeds, bay leaf, and onion.
  3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 2.5 to 3 hours.
  4. Add potatoes and carrots, cooking for 15 minutes.
  5. Add cabbage and cook for another 10-15 minutes until tender.
  6. Remove corned beef and let rest before slicing.
  7. Serve with vegetables and broth.
